TMA TO OFFER FREE FARES ON DART, RUSH SERVICES

Encourages commuters to “Dump the Pump” and try transit on June 8!

BENSALEM—The Bucks County Transportation Management Association has announced that it will offer free fares on its RUSH transit services and the Doylestown DART on Thursday, June 8 to observe National Dump the Pump Day.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), National Dump the Pump Day is intended to raise awareness that parking the car and using transit is the best way to combat high gasoline prices.

The Bucks County TMA’s RUSH and DART transit services provide commuters with connections between Bucks County employment centers and communities and SEPTA regional rail and bus services.  They are fixed-route, public transportation services.  Schedules and route maps are available online at www.rushbus.org and www.doylestowndart.com.

“Inquiries to our office about available public transportation in Bucks County increase dramatically whenever gasoline prices increase,” said Bucks County TMA executive director Bill Rickett.  “People are tired of paying upwards of $50 for a tank of gas and turn to transit as a way to save money.  The TMA is suspending fares on its RUSH and DART transit services on June 8 to encourage commuters to try transit and get a cheaper, less stressful commute to and from work.”

The Bucks County TMA can assist commuters who live or work in Bucks County with planning a trip using any RUSH service or the Doylestown DART, along with any SEPTA service to and within Bucks County.  Commuters interested in dumping the pump may call toll-free 1-866 TMA RIDE for trip-planning assistance and more information.
