TMA TO HOST STATE-OF-THE-ART B.R.T. VEHICLE

The public and all other interested transportation professionals are invited to join the Bucks

County Transportation Management Association on Wednesday, April 19 to view the latest

technology in Bus Rapid Transit vehicles.

The BRT Hybrid vehicle will be open to the public between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the

parking lot of the TMA’s office, Two Greenwood Square, in Bensalem, PA. The demonstration is

made possible by the TMA and North American Bus Industries, Inc. of Anniston, Alabama.

“This demonstration is timely, given the notice that BRT is getting in the greater Philadelphia

region,” said Bill Rickett, TMA Executive Director. “The TMA and the Bucks County Planning

Commission will soon publish a study that will determine whether Bus Rapid Transit is a viable

use for the former Newtown commuter rail line from Newtown Borough to Fox Chase.” Rickett

added New Jersey Transit is also looking at a BRT route along U.S. Route 1, which could extend

the Delaware River past Trenton all the way to Oxford Valley.

The demonstration coincides with an all day Philadelphia Regional Workshop on Bus Rapid

Transit to be held Thursday, April 20 at the William Green Federal Building at 6th and Market

Streets. Information on the workshop is available at www.bctma.com.
